1. Introduction

This Code of Conduct outlines the ethical standards and professional responsibilities expected of Forest Rock Qi Gong teachers. Adherence to this code is essential for maintaining the integrity of the Qi Gong practice and ensuring the well-being of students.

2. Professional Integrity

  1. Maintain high standards of professionalism in all interactions with students, colleagues, and the community.

  2. Be honest and transparent about qualifications, experience, and the benefits and limitations of Qi Gong practice.

3. Respect for Students

  1. Treat all students with respect, dignity, and compassion, regardless of their background, abilities, or beliefs.

  2. Create a safe and inclusive environment where all students feel welcome and valued.

4. Commitment to Student Well-Being

  1. Prioritize the safety and the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of students in all teaching practices.
  2. Encourage students to listen to their bodies and respect their limits, promoting a non-competitive atmosphere.
  3. Create a safe and inclusive learning environment free from discrimination and harassment.
  4. Respect students’ physical and mental limitations and modify instruction accordingly.
  5. Provide clear and accurate information about the potential benefits and risks of Qi Gong practice.

5. Continuous Learning

  1. Engage in ongoing education and professional development training to enhance teaching skills, knowledge, and understanding of Qi Gong.

  2. Stay informed about the latest research and developments in the fields of health, wellness, and Qi Gong practices.

  3. Maintain a high level of knowledge and skill in Qi Gong theory and practice through ongoing study and training.

  4. Accurately represent one’s qualifications and training to students.

  5. Teach within the scope of one’s expertise and refer students to qualified professionals when necessary.

6. Confidentiality

  1. Respect the privacy and confidentiality of students by keeping personal information confidential unless disclosure is required by law or poses a risk to the student or others.
  2. Do not disclose personal information about students without their consent.

7. Clear Communication

  1. Communicate clearly and effectively, ensuring that students understand the practices and principles of Qi Gong.

  2. Provide constructive feedback and encouragement to support student growth and development.

8. Boundaries and Professionalism

  1. Maintain appropriate boundaries with students, avoiding any behaviour that could be perceived as exploitative or inappropriate.
  2. Refrain from engaging in any form of harassment, discrimination, or misconduct.
  3. Avoid dual relationships (e.g., romantic, personal) with students.
  4. Refrain from exploiting or taking advantage of students.

9. Ethical Conduct

  1. Provide truthful and accurate information about Qi Gong, its benefits, and its limitations.
  2. Avoid making exaggerated or unsubstantiated claims about the effects of Qi Gong.
  3. Conduct oneself with honesty and integrity in all professional dealings.
  4. Treat colleagues with respect and professionalism.
  5. Avoid making disparaging remarks about other Qi Gong teachers, students, or styles.

10. Ethical Marketing

  1. Represent Qi Gong practices honestly in promotional materials and communications, avoiding exaggerated claims about benefits or outcomes.

  2. Ensure that all advertising and marketing practices are ethical and respectful.

11. Collaboration & Community

  1. Foster a sense of community among students and encourage collaboration and support within the class.
  2. Respect the contributions of other teachers and practitioners in the field of Qi Gong.

12. Responsibility to the Tradition

  1. Honor the traditions and teachings of Qi Gong, ensuring that practices are taught accurately and respectfully.

  2. Acknowledge the cultural origins of Qi Gong and promote cultural sensitivity in teaching.

13. Enforcement & Disciplinary Action

Violations of this Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary action, including but not limited to:

  1. Warning

  2. Suspension of teaching privileges

  3. Revocation of certification or membership

This Code of Conduct serves as a foundation for Forest Rock Qi Gong teachers to ensure they provide a positive and enriching experience for their students while upholding the integrity of the practice.
