What is Qi Gong?

‘Qi’ is the Chinese word for the ‘life force’ or ‘vital energy’ that flows through every living thing. ‘Gong’ means work, skill or benefits acquired through perseverance and practice.

Qi Gong is a gentle and ancient Chinese practice that focuses on the harmonisations of mind, body, and spirit.

Qi Gong, which is sometimes spelled Chi-Kung (and pronounced chee-gung), is the study and practice of cultivating vital life force through various techniques, which include:

  • Gentle flowing movements
  • Breathing techniques
  • Energetic postures
  • Calming meditations
  • Guided imagery
  • And learning how to strengthen our intentions.

The Forest Rock Qigong approach is practical, enjoyable, easy-to-follow and is for anyone at any level of experience.

As the retreat progresses, your understanding of Qi Gong and the philosophy of Traditional Chinese Medicine will grow to a deeper level. You will also learn how it effects your health and wellness.

The practices themselves are very accessible, you don’t have to be extremely flexible or have aerobic fitness to perform the movements.

What is Breathwork?

By paying attention to our breath and using it as a tool, we can positively impact our physical and emotional wellbeing. This makes breathwork an accessible and effective way to enhance our overall health

Breathwork is a mindful practice that focuses on regulating one’s breath to improve physical, mental, and emotional well-being.

By intentionally altering the depth, pace, and pattern of the breath, you can influence your body’s response, leading to increased oxygen intake, reduced tension, and enhanced mental clarity.

Breathwork can be a valuable tool for stress reduction, emotional release, mental clarity, and improving overall health and vitality. It is used as a practice to help achieve a state of calm and balance.

It can serve as a tool for self-discovery and personal growth. It may help you connect with your inner self and gain insights into your thought patterns and emotions.
