The-Things-I-Like-To-Do-List

The-Things-I-Like-To-Do-List

Today I’d like to share with you one of the most simple, yet most profound tools I found in discovering who I really am – my true personality and character.

I invite you to write a list of all the things you love and love to do. This will take some time and thought. Things will come to you for days after you have started this process. Just write them down on a list. It may be helpful to carry around a notepad or put them as notes on your phone so you can jot them down as soon as they come to you so that you don’t forget them.

Write down all the things you think of, no matter how small. For example, a couple of mine are: I love peanut butter and banana on toast and I love having a hot shower.

Write down any physical experiences you love. Maybe that’s dancing, running or skydiving. Another one of mine is, that I love the physical feeling of acceleration. Unfortunately the traffic officers don’t seem to understand this fascination.

One of the keys to this process is to say to yourself while you’re doing what you love: “I love doing this”. This will bring your attention to what you love. I love riding my motorbike so when I am riding it I say to myself, “I love riding my bike” and I smile all the way to where I’m going and back. Try it, it works.

Write things on your list like the time of day you love, the season of the year, the food you love, animals you love, colours, flavours, scents, restaurants, music, Artists, Authors, etc… in short everything you love, no matter how small it may seem.

I have a friend who wrote “dancing” on her list and she realised that she hasn’t danced for years! So now she is going out dancing and just smiles at the thought of it. That makes me smile too.

Note that if things come up that you “don’t” like, as they seem to do when you are writing your love list, don’t write them down or give them any attention. We will do that list later, much later. Let the “things I love to do” list have a lot of time to expand. Also write down the things you would love to do but haven’t done yet.

Lastly, once you have written the list, start doing the things on that list, whether you have been doing them already or not.

Do the things you love stop doing the things you don’t like, life is too short to do the thing you don’t like. Even if it’s your job, stop doing it, go and do something you like, it’s your choice to be miserable or happy. Pick happy.

Enjoy the things you Love.
