Hi I'm Peter Caughey. Founder of Forest Rock Qigong.Qi Gong, which is sometimes spelled Chi-Kung (and pronounced chee-gung), is the study and practice of cultivating vital life-force through various techniques, including: Breathing techniques, Postures, Meditations and Guided imagery. Taiji Quan (t’ai chi chuan) translates to “Grand Ultimate Fist” and is the ultimate source and motivating force behind all reality in Chinese philosophy.Qi is the Chinese word for the ‘life’ or ‘vital energy’ that flows through everything. Gong means “work” or “skill” or benefits acquired through perseverance and practice. Together the two words mean ‘Skill or mastery of working with vital energy’. Through study, the individual aims to develop the ability to manipulate Qi in order to promote self-healing, prevent disease, and increase longevity. Taiji and Qi Gong practices make the body strong and supple, improves balance, stamina and flexibility. They have a positive effect on the cardiovascular, respiratory, digestive, endocrine, immune and central nervous system and create more feelings of joy, optimism and an peaceful state of mind as well as greater mental clarity, intuition and creativity. As we deepen in our Qi Gong practice, we become aware of more subtle realms of Being, and begin to experience, directly, our interconnectedness with something far greater than ourselves.I am the last known remaining teacher of the Jen Gee Dao Tai Kit Kuen Monastery School originally from Southern China and I teach the principles and philosophy of the school. Prior to studying and teaching TCM, Qi Gong and Taiji, I spent 16 years in the New Zealand Army and seven of those in the NZSAS (New Zealand Special Forces).During the last 30 years of treating people in my TCM Acupuncture Clinic and practicing and teaching Taiji and Qi Gong, I have discovered the true meaning of health that can be obtained in a human body on a physical, mental, emotional and spiritual level and how to achieve and maintain it.Transform your life with the power of Qi Gong Subscribe to our YouTube Channel @forest_rock_qigong and join us every Tuesday for the Weekly Live Qi Gong Class
